Stovo Stool
The Stovo Stool is a modern take on classic woodworking techniques, made from solid walnut. The seat is hand-carved in the traditional style of Windsor chairs for comfort and a subtle sculptural look. It features three legs, two with a simple round shape and one bold, faceted leg that adds a unique touch. The legs are wedged into the seat for a strong, lasting joint, and the stool is finished with wipe-on polyurethane to protect the wood and bring out the walnut’s natural warmth. The Stovo Stool blends tradition and modern style in a clean, functional piece.

Wanted to keep two legs very simple and classic to match the seat
Process

1. I started by shaping the seat. It is made up of two slabs of wood glued together down the center of the seat and then cut to a rough shape.
2. I then drilled the leg holes at a 12-degree angle radiating from the center and started carving the seat with an angle grinder.
3. When it got closer to the correct size I used guages, scrapers, and finally sanded it to its final form.
4. The legs were all turned on a lathe and then wedged into the seat. 4
5. I finished the stool with a wipe-on Poly finish.
